By thru-hikers, for thru-hikers.

In 2021, Ben “Unfiltered” set out to walk all 2,193.1 miles of the Appalachian Trail. After completing his first thru-hike, he decided to take on the PCT for the next hiking season. But before he left on his next thru, he decided to give out trail magic with one of his closest friends from the AT.

In 2022, Mary “Newfound” set out to complete the AT as well. While hiking through North Carolina, she walked through a blizzard into Stecoah Gap - where Unfiltered and his friend were just starting to set up trail magic.

We fell out of touch as we completed long trails on opposite sides of the country: Unfiltered on the PCT, and Newfound on the AT.

But when we both moved to Asheville in 2023 after our thru-hikes, we reconnected.

When the hostel came on the market, we dropped everything to see it and placed an offer. Now, we live just 40 trail miles south of the place we first met, operating a hostel for hikers of the same trail that brought us together.
